Portion size – bigger is better?

Over the last 10 years have seen the arrival of the “giants” of food. And honestly some of the products are of giant size so large that they are ridiculous .. and it seems they are still growing. But these products are oversized affecting body size or is it just hype?
Just returned from a trip where I was in two countries. For purposes of this article, I will call the country, the country 1 and Field 2. The two countries 1 and 2 are in the same region with almost the same quality food and healthy eating culture. Many fruits, vegetables, lean meats and dairy products or simply prepared. However, my traveling companion and I noticed a difference in the “fat” people of both countries. What?
As a tourist, I ate in restaurants and was not exposed to normal day to day eating habits and cultural practices around food and meals in these countries. But one thing that really stands out in restaurants as a possible culprit. portion sizes.
Country 1: huge plates of food served in restaurants
Field 2: small plates / quality of food served in restaurants.
So far I have not paid much attention to portion sizes as a possible reason for people to be overweight, but this observation piqued my curiosity.
Therefore, when he returned home with my computer, I did some surfing on the issue of portion size and weight control. Do you know who have a name for the psychological impact of size on food habits? This is called “bias of the unit.”
Appearantly, there have been many studies to determine whether people are affected by the size of the food itself, as well as utensils and food containers sizes in. One of my favorites is the study of M & M researchers placed a large jar of M & M in a public space. They changed the Scoopers with a different size every day. Low and behold, the days when the little Scoopers were used, people took less than M & Ms. The conclusion here is that people feel a “part” regardless of the size of the spoon was.
To return to my journey .. Interestingly, people from different cultures have different ideas of what is “enough” food. For example, my traveling companion on this trip is a country (one with large portions). While traveling in the country 2 after 1 week in the country, he kept commenting on how they would have to order twice to get enough to eat. I realized that a country which was so overwhelmed by the large plates of food that I started to order a single point and I kept eating until my stomach hurt. 2 in the country, as my traveling companion, I felt the need to order more than one item from each food (I also put a pound of fat in 2 weeks!)
So for me this idea has become more evident. The portion size is a matter of perception perception can be harmful to our health and body shape. So if you’re still struggling with excess fat, take a look at the size of your plates!

My friend and I had lunch at McGuire’s and I have to say the atmosphere was very relaxing and the meal was very nice. It is tempting to reach up and grab the money that wallpapers every inch of the walls. Not really sure when this place opened up in Fort Walton Beach, but it hasn’t been that long. This is really a very neat idea and unique place to dine. Very good pizza, and I’m not even a real big pizza person, I put it high on the places you must try whenever you get a chance. The chain of take and bake pizzerias traces its history back to 1981, when the Papa Aldo’s Pizza chain was begun in Hillsboro, Oregon. Three years later Murphy’s Pizza chain began in Petaluma, California. Eventually both chains were acquired by Terry Collins, who in 1995 merged the two chains into the Papa Murphy’s chain. The chain was incorporated as Papa Murphy’s International, Inc. In 2003, Papa Murphy’s was voted “Best Pizza Chain in America” by Restaurants and Institutions Magazine and have been every year since.[2] The company was merged with PMI Holdings, Inc. in 2004.
Papa Murphy’s won the platinum award for Consumers’ First Choice in pizza chains in 2006.[3] Winner of Pizza Today’s 2009 Chain of the Year, as well as in 2001, 2006, and 2008. In 2010, the chain was sold to Lee Equity Partners of New York
Orders are available by walk-in or call-in and also soon to be online orders. Some stores have a drive-thru window where customers can pick up call-in orders. The newest store with a drive-thru is in Hutchinson Minnesota (1380 Highway MN-15 South). Unlike regular pizza establishments, the pizza is put together at the store, but is not baked there. It’s when two young boys have a dream, talking about it and developing the dream as they shoot hoops on a boring day in sunny Statesboro, Georgia that things happen. Menus get developed, suppliers get researched, locations scouted, funding researched, friends recruited for employees, and doors get opened. That’s what happened to two young boys from Statesboro, Georgia (think Georgia Southern University) when they had the idea and opened the doors to Zaxby’s, the premier chicken shack on the southern half of the East Coast and Texas. The first store was opened across from the university, and they were off and running.
Zaxby’s is known for not being fast food. Their foods are cooked to order so it’s fresh, hot and done the way the customer wants it. Their foods can be cooked in any combination the customer wishes, whether inside a combo meal or separate items on the menu made into a combo meal. The customer holds a buzzer pad which, when it buzzes, means the customer’s order is ready. It usually takes between ten to fifteen minutes, but no longer, to prepare a customer’s meal, but when it’s ready it’s the best food you’ve ever eaten. There’s a reason Zaxby’s has such a loyal following.
Without sounding like an ad for a competitor, Zaxby’s does chicken the right way. Whether it’s the marinade or the oil used in frying some of the chicken, whether some of the chicken is slow cooked or grilled, Zaxby’s chicken entrees are moist and juicy, not dried out from frying or sitting under the warming light all day. Some of their sides might be fried, but others are healthy and taste outrageous. Even if the customer ordered fried mushrooms instead of a potato side or fried onion rings, he could pull the breading off the mushrooms and not miss a thing.
